Having a MAGICal 2025

 

The MAGIC Formula is a perfect starting point for your New Years plans.   FIREDANCE students please read carefully:

  1. Do the breathing.   Every hour on the hour, sixty seconds of deep, slow DIAPHRAGMATIC breathing.  Set your smart phone alarm. 

  2. Create a morning ritual of affirmation (ALOUD!), visualization, and emotional flooding WHILE IN MOTION.  I use yoga or tai chi.

  3. Accept that the meaning of life is to escape suffering, embrace joy, and be of service.  EVERYTHING ELSE IS A MEANS TO THIS END.

  4. Create goals in body, relationships (including loving yourself!), and money.  It is totally realistic to ask for 50% improvement per year. That's less than 1% improvement per week. NONE of these basic arenas should have less than 20% of your attention.

  5. Break them down using the MAGIC Formula:

    1. Map/Model/Mentor.  Who has accomplished your goal, starting from where you are?  Or created a map (a course, book, etc.) that has helped others reach your goal?  Avoid childish inflexibility here. Close is good enough to start.   And if you want to accomplish something no one else has done…(wait for it) study the lives of people who accomplished new things.

    2. Action.  What is the smallest "atomic" action on the defined path you just created?  Something you can do DAILY?  Again, study the map or model.  Break it down into small enough chunks that you can take responsible for doing it DAILY.

    3. Gratitude.    Start your day with the emotions others think they have to get an external result to feel.  "I'll be happy when I succeed."  NO!!!  "Be happy.  Now go out and succeed".  The best way to have faith that the future can bring good things is to be GRATEFUL for what has already happened.  And if you tell yourself you have nothing to be grateful for…would you miss your eyes?  Your friends?   If you don't think you want to live, try holding your breath until you pass out.   Anything you would miss if you lost it is something to be grateful for NOW.

    4. Intention.  CLEAR goals.  "SMART" goals are really…smart.  Specific, Meaningful (to you), Actionable, Realistic (if anyone else has ever accomplished them starting with your position, you can too!), and Time-bound (goals are dreams with deadlines!)

    5. Core.   Your essential being. The answer to the "who am I?" question, at the deepest levels.  And brothers and sisters, if this "Core", your essential character, is not an avatar of love, life, energy, and creativity, YOU HAVEN'T DUG DEEPLY ENOUGH.

 

Get that?  Do the MAGIC exercise ON PAPER, with each of your major goals ("Health, Love, Money, and time to enjoy them" is damned good.   Add "service" and you've got it!)

 

Now ask yourself: what version of you, what expression of your Self, could take the daily actions to get the incremental results that would accelerate you by a minimum of 50% in the next year?  Who would that be?   Is that someone you would want to be?

 

If not, ask why. Because if you don't want to be the person who can have the destiny, you need to either change your self-image, or change your goals.  But be sure you aren't coming from fear and a sense of lack.  Play LARGE!
